Watch and Wager LLC will kick off its eighth season of harness racing at Cal Expo with a strong 12-race program Saturday night (Nov. 9).
Beginning next week, the trotters and pacers will be in action on Friday and Saturday evenings with a 6:10 p.m. post time.
The wagering menu includes the return of the low 16 per cent takeout Pick-4 and Pick-5 wagers. Last season’s Pick-4 pool averaged over $46,000 nightly. In addition to the Pick-4, fans will able to wager on the Pick-5 this season in 20-cent denominations.
The strong on-air broadcast team will be returning intact. Hall of Fame announcer Gary Siebel will anchor the broadcast, while Jenn Bongiorno and Wendy Ross will do the popular Pick-4 analysis on Friday and Saturday, respectfully.
Derick Giwner will be back with his nightly insightful Pick-5 opinions and Garnet Barnsdale will return each Friday with his expertise on Woodbine Mohawk Park racing for California simulcast patrons.
On track, fans will be treated to a special family value night on opening Saturday. Hot dogs, beer, wine, and soda will each be $2 from 6 to 9 p.m. As always, parking and admission are free after 4:30 p.m.
