Former Ontario-based veterinarian Dr. Brian “Doc” James Lauzon, of Factoryville, Pennsylvania passed away suddenly on Monday (Nov. 1) at the age of 65.

Born on September 29, 1956 and raised in Windsor, Ont., Brian was the son of the late Donald Joseph and Barbara Helen (Weaver) Lauzon. With his lifelong passion for helping and caring for others, especially animals, he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Guelph in Ontario.

A renowned veterinarian, his specialty and passion was caring for racehorses, which led his career path to numerous locations from Windsor to New York to Florida. He settled in Factoryville in 2007 after purchasing a horse farm, to both raise and care for horses for his family and in the surrounding community.

With his old school techniques and knowledge of advanced modern technical treatments, he was well respected within his profession for his extensive knowledge in veterinary and human medicine. His comical demeanor and unforgettable sarcasm were only added characteristics to someone already so dearly beloved.

He had a way of developing a personal connection to anyone he met. To know him was certainly to love him and laugh with him. Although the magnitude of his loss is indescribable, his legacy will live on forever through his adored children.

He is survived by five children, Andrew Lauzon and wife Danielle of Windsor, Kaitlyn Lauzon of Vancouver Island, B.C., Jennifer Lauzon and husband Nathan Duarte of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Taylor Lauzon and Russell Lauzon, both of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; his only grandchild, Jakob Lauzon; his brother, Mark Lauzon of Windsor, Ont.; many nieces and nephews; and former wives, Janet Lauzon and Nancy Pare.

He joins his brother, Kevin Lauzon, who recently passed and is also dearly missed.

A celebration of Doc’s Life is set for Monday at 7 p.m. at The Banks – a Waterfront Venue, 304 Kennedy Blvd., Pittston, Pennsylvania with services to be conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael Shambora. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4 p.m. until services.

Burial will be in his hometown of Windsor, Ont.
