Standardbred Canada member Larry Tyson Fraser of Sydney Mines, N.S. passed away suddenly on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. He was 76.
Larry, the only child of the late Henry & Linda Fraser of Pictou County, N.S., was also predeceased by his brother and sister in-law Robert & Mae MacDonald and stepson Nicholas Wither.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Mary MacDonald-Fraser, stepdaughter Tiffany Withers (Andy), granddaughters Carys & Hunter, and his grandsons Nicholas & Harlan, who all affectionately called him Papa. Larry also leaves behind numerous family members from Pictou and on the MacDonald side from Sydney Mines, N.S.
After retiring from Nova Scotia Power, Larry enjoyed many days fishing with his good friend Moby and spending time at Northside Downs with his good friend Gary. Larry had many friends in the racing industry from P.E.I. and Cape Breton. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. A special gift from his daughter Tiffany was his dog and partner “Bartley,” who gave him many days of joy; they had a close bond and were always seen walking or driving together.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service for Larry will take place at a later date.
