The final live harness racing card for Thursdays is set with a 7:00 p.m. first-race post time at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino. The Charlottetown Driving Park will host 11 pacing events and two trot classes to fill the
13-dash program.
Feel Ideal, trained by Dale Sobey and driven by Norris Rogers, has drawn the rail in the Race 12 feature which carries a $1,900 purse. The lineup also includes Chester the Name (Brodie MacPhee), Rymar Chief (Ken Murphy), CL Eighty (Ken Arsenault), Olivia Hall (Ron Matheson), Dance Hanover (Tyler Moore), Shooters Bay (Walter Cheverie) and Life Savior (Marc Campbell).
The Open Trot class is also featured in Race 6. Caliban Hanover will be gunning for his seventh win of the campaign. Ron Gass will drive from Post 4 for owner Wendell MacDonald and trainer Ken Wilkie. The five-year-old will need to endure the pressure of Katies Victory from the Clark Smith stable, while Wilfred and Calvin Smith have a shot with Flashy Image for Gary Chappell. The Trot Challenge point standings have been released. Corey MacPherson leads all drivers in the trot division with 245 points. MacPherson could add to his total when he drives Dusty Lane Shelby, a 6-1 shot on the morning line.
Rounding out the top five are Marc Campbell with 153, Joey Pineau at 151, Gary Chappell sits at 143 and Joe Smallwood climbs into the top five with 140. The challenge is presented by Johnston’s Salads and Keybrand Foods Inc.
Another big weekend is set for Saturday afternoon (starting at 1:00 p.m.), as the Island Breeders will be taking centre stage. The card will be carried worldwide on the Bell-Aliant Race Day show.
