Wednesday, November 27 is the last day to register online for the Global Symposium on Racing & Gaming with the online registration rate of $545 or have your registration postmarked for the $595 mail-in rate; registration fees increase to $650 thereafter.

This year, panel sessions addressing cutting-edge wagering issues include ‘New Ways to Look at Numbers’ during which panelists look at new data that could be presented to the racing audience, new ways to present the information we currently provide as well as how all of it can be used to attract new customers and increase the frequency of current players. Also of interest is ‘Handicapping Contests, Real Growth in the Racing Industry?’, a session that gives attendees the opportunity to learn about the different mindsets and strategies of the tournament player as compared to the traditional pari-mutuel player and how to cater to their needs.

Attendees will get a sneak preview of the characters and story line for ‘Horseplayers’, the new racing-based reality show from the creators of ‘Jockeys’ during the session titled, ‘From Bridge Jumpers to Bettin’ the Chalk.’

Regulating the race is another important area of focus with panel sessions on ‘New Strategies in Regulating the Race and Current Legal and Policy Issues in Racing and Gaming.’ Speakers will look at topics that are on the radar screen of policymakers, regulators and operators and address issues like Florida’s Gretna case; the rise of geolocation as a regulatory tool; the status of interstate internet poker and other gaming in the U.S.; the possibility of federal legislation on medication in racing; out-of-competition testing and the privacy issues it presents; and how the seismic change in Ontario has changed the racing landscape and outlook for that province as well as the cautionary tale it provides.

The entire agenda of panel sessions and speakers for the December 9 - 12, event held in Tucson, Arizona is currently available online at ua-rtip.org/symposium_racing_gaming.
