Freehold Raceway announced that effective Friday, November 25 purses will be increased by 30 per cent
. The increase is possible due to a payment from the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority of an allocation of monies from the Purse Enhancement Agreement (PEA).
With the increase, purses will average $40,000 per day.
“As a result of the recent payment, we were able to erase a significant overpayment and still have additional funds available to increase purses,” said Freehold General Manager Howard Bruno.
Races will continue to feature New Jersey sired horses.
According to Freehold Director of Racing Karen Fagliarone, “We will give preference to New Jersey-sired horses and those who raced two of their previous three starts at Freehold.”
Freehold’s live harness racing schedule is Fridays and Saturdays through December 17.
