Robert Uebel Sr. Passes

Robert G. Uebel Sr., 86, of Frederick, passed away on November 14 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Wilhelmina L. Stabler Uebel, who passed in 2007.

Born on March 14, 1927, in Baltimore, Robert was the son of the late Leonard and Louise Dawson Uebel.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a trainer on the east coast, most famous for training Freestate Raceway fan favourite, Come On Fred p, 1:56.4f ($292,946). He later became an associate judge and starter at the Great Frederick Fair. He was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association, the American Legion and the AMVETS.

Robert is survived by his children, Peggy Metzger and husband Johhny of Libertytown and Robert Uebel Jr., and wife Barbara of Frederick. Brothers John and Joseph Uebel and sister Shirley Dill. Grandchildren, Kevin Uebel, Jennifer Ogg and husband Daniel, Michael Metzger and wife Jennifer and Matthew Metzger. Great grandchildren Hailey Ogg, Mia Ogg, Taylor Uebel, Jonathan Metzger and Julia Metzger. Special friend Brenda Yates. He was preceded in death by his sister Bootsie Murphy.

Visitation will be at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:oo p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday (November 18). Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday (November 19) at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5463 Jefferson Pike, Feagaville. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Hospice of Frederick County, P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
