The 2020 Blooded Horse Sales Company Fall Speed Sale concluded Wednesday (Nov. 18) at the Champions Center Expo in Springfield, Ohio, with its second of two sessions.
A Fancy Face attracted the top bid of the sale, going from the Burke Racing Stable consignment to Gregory Luther of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, for $88,000. The three-year-old daughter of My MVP did not race as a two-year-old, but won six of her 16 races for trainer Ron Burke, including three Ohio Sires Stakes preliminary events.
Buck Dancer was the second-highest grossing horse in the Wednesday session, attracting a $41,000 bid from J.L. Adams of Finleyville, Pa. Former co-owner William DeLong consigned the four-year-old son of Guccio who won seven of 19 races thus far in his career, all at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
The highest price tag for a pacer during the second session was the $36,000 that Ken Weckstein of Oxon Hill, Md., paid for Rock Smart, also from the Burke consignment. The sophomore Pet Rock gelding campaigned exclusively in his native Ohio through his two- and three-year-old campaigns and won five of 26 races, including an Ohio Sires Stakes preliminary in his rookie season.
