A reminder that Standardbred Canada is accepting submissions for the 2023 Cam Fella Award, with nominations due on Friday, Nov. 17.
The Cam Fella Award was introduced at the 1997 O’Brien Awards. The award was designed to honour the kind of extreme meritorious service that Cam Fella himself provided to the nation’s harness racing industry and, fittingly, he was the first recipient.
The award is given out when warranted – not necessarily annually – to recognize extreme recent meritorious service, effort and dedication to Canadian harness racing by an individual or group who, through their efforts, displays some of the same qualities that made Cam Fella one of racing’s greatest names.
The most recent winner of the Cam Fella Award was Bulldog Hanover in 2022. Bulldog Hanover added the prestigious Cam Fella Award to a lengthy list of accolades and awards earned not only for his on-track performances during the 2022 racing season, but also as an ambassador of harness racing, generating an incredible amount of media attention, publicity and fan following for the sport.
