On Sunday (Nov. 15) Flamboro Downs issued an update regarding the Ontario government’s announcement that placed the region of Hamilton in the province's red COVID-19 control zone.

The update appears below.

Further to the Ontario provincial government’s announcement that certain businesses in the Hamilton Region will be moved to the “Red Zone”, Flamboro Downs will be implementing increased measures for our backstretch operations.

Flamboro Downs is committed to providing a safe environment for both its horsepeople and team members and introduced significant health and safety protocols as part of our resumption of live racing on September 3, 2020. Since Flamboro Downs has reopened, there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 by our horsepeople or team members.

Effective Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Flamboro Downs will implement additional protocols for the backstretch operations by utilizing Barn 3 as well as our paddock for live racing. Races 1 – 5 will be allowed entry to the paddock upon their arrival, Races 6 onward will be placed in Barn 3 until which time there is adequate room in the paddock. Races will be called over from Barn 3 as races 1 through 5 clear out of the paddock building.

Flamboro Downs would like to take this opportunity to thank all horsepeople and team members for their continued cooperation, understanding and support as we work through these unprecedented times.

Flamboro Downs will continue to support the efforts of the Ontario provincial government and Public Health Ontario in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
