Ponder The Odds Looking For More

Ponder The Odds dominated in the first leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes – Standardbred Development Fund (NJSS-SDF) for three-year-old pacing fillies last Saturday at Freehold Raceway. She'll seek to continue her hot streak this Saturday, as she has drawn Post 1 in the second leg of the series.

The Kathleen La Montagne-trained filly has won three races in a row, and was victorious in an impressive 1:56.2 last time out. She went right to the lead in that race, and never looked back en route to a two and a half-length win. Many of her rivals from that race will be returning Saturday, including Surreality. The Nicholas Devita-trained filly finished second at 55-1 and will seek to pull off the upset again from Post 6.

That dash has been carded as Race 5, which carries an approximate post time of 1:50 p.m. (EDT).

The card also features the second leg of the NJSS-SDF for colts and geldings. Trainers Nick Surick and Tom Fanning will send out four of the five horses in the race. Surick trains Black Dan and Trente Deo, who were fifth and third, respectively, in the first leg of the series last week. Fanning conditions Cool Your Heels, who was seventh last week, and Just Plain Loco, who placed fourth. The Michael Hall-trained Admiral Ballsy rounds out the field. The dash has been programmed as Race 3, which is scheduled to face the gate at approximately 1:10 p.m.

Post time for the first race on Saturday at Freehold is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
