An update has been announced for the conditions of the inaugural Blood Money Stakes, for two-year-olds sired by Blood Money, to be contested in 2025.
The initial announcement for the stakes event indictated the race would pit the top eight purse-earning Blood Money foals (colts or fillies) in competition for a $20,000 purse. Dr. Mitchell Downey, the stallion's owner, has now decided to offer two divisions, one for colts and one for fillies, if sufficient entries exist (minimum of five per division). The top seven fillies and top seven colts will each race for a purse of $12,000. There are no nominating or starting fees for this event.
The stakes will be contested at Connell Park Raceway in order to support New Brunswick racing.
Fifteen Blood Money yearlings will be offered at auction this coming Friday, Oct. 11 in the Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale.
