Norma Cole Passes

Norma Cole, 58, of Blissfield, Mich. and formerly of Eaton Rapids, passed away on October 4, 2019 after a long illness.

Cole was born in Eaton Rapids on September 16, 1961, the daughter of James and Elsie (Miller) Johnson. She was a 1980 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School. Her love for horses led her to become a steward in Michigan and a paddock judge.

In 2016, while visiting family in North Carolina, she was baptized. That day gave her great comfort. Cole will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Cole is survived by her husband, Scott Bateson; daughter, Amanda Miller; grandchildren, Katalyna, Kellan and Katyana, Kasmyra, and Kataleya Miller; father James Johnson; siblings, Tresa (Rick) Grossman, Mary (Mark) Poe and Penny (David) McWhirter; mother-in-law, Helen Bateson. She was preceded in death by her mother; Elsie Johnson; first husband, Roger Cole; brother, James Johnson Jr.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 8) at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel in Eaton Rapids. Visitation will take place on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
