A hard-hitting field of nine pacers will battle in the feature (Race 11) Thursday night at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.
The first race on the 12-dash card will line up at 7:00 p.m. The program will be the final Thursday night card of the season at the CDP.
Roscoes Child is favoured in the tightly-knit $1,850 feature event and will start from Post 5 with Brodie MacPhee in the bike for owner Selkirk Stable of Belfast and trainer Raymond White.
The seven-year-old son of Collector Rd – Short Cut Maggie was nosed out in his last start by Pinner, who has Post 2 for Thursday’s event with Walter Cheverie at the controls. Camcun (to be driven by Kenny Arsenault) has been selected for second, while trailing Post 9 starter Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton) will be looking for redemption after his win streak was cut short last week.
Also in the field is Panacotta (Blaine Baglole), Doll R General (Mark McKinnon), Sterling Seelster (Marc Campbell), PC Shockwave (Gary Chappell), and Greatheart Hanover (Jason Hughes).
The evening trot class will head postward for Race 2. Majian Dilion has been installed as the morning-line favourite. Jim Ripley trains and drives the trotter from Post 5 for owner Marylea Ripley of Amherst, NS. The Nikes Image chestnut drops out of the Open trot and the last time he was out of that class he was a $240.30 winner. Also dropping out of the Open class is Post 6 starter Honeymoonisover for trainer-driver and co-owner Brian Andrew of Milton and co-owner Blark Andrew of Montreal. Other top entries include BJ Carmalyta (Arsenault) and Dunmore Alpha (Edward Smallwood).
The evening back-up pace has been carded as Race 12. McMaverick has been favoured early for driver Ken Murphy and owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Tyne Valley. He will have his hands full dealing with threats from Talk Back (Arsenault), Muzzys Mud Puddle (Mark Bradley) and Cambest Kisser (Hughes).
Live racing will continue with a card on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Charlottetown, followed by a race card Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. start at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway.
