'Pick The Punter' Punters Announced

What do Trot Magazine editor Darryl Kaplan, racing analyst Mike Hamilton, Toronto Star handicapper Hans Grottke, Fraser Downs track announcer Dan Jukich, Racing commentator Dawn Lupul and Montreal Gazette sports writer Paul Delean

all have in common? They will all be competing on your behalf in Standardbred Canada’s 'Pick The Punter Challenge' this Saturday, October 24.

Pick the punter you think will have the highest bankroll from $2 win, place, show wagers on the eight Breeders Crown finals at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday night, and then estimate what that winning bankroll will be.

If you are the winner, you’ll be en route to Ottawa for a crack at the $25,000 grand prize in the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday, November 8.

Some important information you’ll want to consider when choosing your punter and bankroll:

  • Kaplan was the winning handicapper in last year’s online event, as he netted $62.80 for his selections
  • In the Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Trot, there is no show wagering, so whatever the punters get for win and place will be it for that event

The prize for the Pick The Punter Challenge includes:

  • Two nights accommodation at the Ottawa Marriott
  • Roundtrip transportation to and from the Marriott to Rideau Carleton
  • Brunch and dinner on Sunday, November 8

Please note that the prize from the Pick The Punter Challenge does not include transportation or travel costs to and from Ottawa.

The contest will open at 2:00 p.m. (ET) on Friday, October 23 and will close at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, October 24.
