Innocent Kiss Is Looking For More

Innocent Kiss, who is fresh off of an open-length romp, is set to compete in this Thursday evening’s featured pace at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

Track officials will be monitoring a weather system that is approaching the island and will make a call on the official program before 1 p.m. on Thursday.

The 11-dash card is scheduled to kick off with a post time of 6:30 p.m.

Innocent Kiss has been installed as the early favourite for the card’s featured pacing contest, which has been programmed as Race 10. Adam Merner will drive the daughter of Westwardho Hanover whom he co-owns with Max Sehl of Port Morien, NS. The Chris Davies-trained mare scored a convincing eight-length victory last week at the capital oval after having been camera shy since June.

Charlottes Western will start from Post 1 in the field of pacing mares. She has recorded four consecutive top-three finishes for trainer-driver Marc Campbell. Bettim Vicky – who was parked out every step of her latest outing, yet hung on for second – will start from Post 2 on Thursday with driver Jeff Lilley.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac has sided with Post 3 starter Innocent Kiss to earn the top prize.

“Innocent Kiss steps up after last week’s confidence-building win, but she's been here most of the year, and, as her summary will attest to, with a fair amount of success,” MacIsaac explained. “She is quite possibly the one to beat.”

Drivingthedragon N (to be driven by Jason Hughes), Dancers Pass (David Dowling) and Collective Wisdom (Gilles Barrieau) will help round out the field.

The evening’s top-class trotting dash has been carded as Race 7 and will feature a purse of $2,200. Summit City Nate will be looking to remain undefeated on the east coast. Owned by Eric Johnston of Summerside, the seven-year-old son of Justice Hall was a five-length winner in his latest for trainer Earl Watts and will have the services of Dowling in the race bike on Thursday. Other top trotting entries include Star Photo (Hughes) from Post 6 and Post 7 starter Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).
