Osprey Delta seeks the top prize in Thursday evening's (Oct. 14) Open Trot at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The featured $2,700 Open Trot will take to the track in the sixth of 11 dashes on the card. Post time is 6 p.m.
Morning line favourite Osprey Delta had been racing for trainer Jeff Holmes all summer, and finished fifth at the Open level in her last start. Owner Paul Larrabee has now taken over the training duties of the daughter of Tad The Stud, and Walter Cheverie gets the catch driving call from post 2. Daisy River, who defeated Osprey Delta but rallied to finish fourth after a break in stride in her most recent outing, will start from post 3 for driver Jason Hughes and trainer William Lanigan.
Perennial top trotter Freddie, who looks for his 73rd lifetime win, will start from the rail for trainer-driver Marc Campbell.
The Post Time Picks see Peter MacPhee place Daisy River on top:
“Daisy River made a rare break last time out and couldn’t deliver as the chalk choice. Draws post three and we’re thinking Jason will want to call the shots right from the word go so expect a big-time bounce back.”
Sailor Blue (Ken Murphy), Glider Man (Adam Merner) and Go With Her (Brodie MacPhee) complete the field.
The top pace of the evening, carded as race 10, carries a $2,600 purse. Pacific Delight is the top choice from post 2 for driver Corey MacPherson, trainer Ron Matheson and owners Eldred Nicholson, James Gorman, Quentin Bevan and Bobbi Jo Matheson. Other top entrants are Filly Forty Seven (Campbell) and Better Be In Love (MacPhee).
