Officials from the Standardbred Horse Sales Co. remind industry participants that supplemental entries for the Harrisburg Mixed Sale will close at the end of business hours on Monday (Oct. 18).
Those planning to enter the supplemental catalog for the mixed are asked to contact their sales agent or call the sales company office at 717-637-8931.
The two-day mixed sale, to be held Thursday, Nov. 11 and Friday, Nov. 12, follows the annual yearling auction, which begins at noon on Monday, Nov. 8 and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Sales company president Dale Welk is optimistic that not only the yearling sale will provide plenty of fireworks, but that the mixed sale will, as well:
“Even with a pretty tight market of mixed horses that have been heading to sales, our mixed sale has shaped up to really exceed our expectations,” Welk said.
“We have two excellent breeding stock dispersals, from Herb Liverman (Peninsula Farm, agent) and Warrawee Farm (Preferred Equine, agent), that lead a solid group of broodmares on Thursday, and on Friday, buyers will find some truly outstanding racehorses, from two- and three-year-old stakes winners to fast free-for-allers.”
Welk urged buyers to keep a close eye on mixed sale updates, as so many of the sale’s “fabulous fillies” and racehorses are coming in straight off wins.
“For example, Katies Lucky Day is heading to the mixed after her win in last Sunday’s Kentucky Filly Futurity. Sunny Crockett, a three-year-old trotting colt, just won the Old Oaken Bucket and Liberty Bell, and there’s a two-year-old Walner colt, Wallet, that just won back-to-back Massachusetts Sire Stakes,” Welk said.
Both the yearling and mixed sale catalogues have been mailed and both are also online at theblackbook.com website and Equineline app. Past performances for racehorses are also available for download on both platforms.
