Delaware's Top Rookies Ready To Spar

The top Delaware-sired two-year-olds will be showcased Wednesday, October 3 as four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund finals will be contested on a 15-race program at Harrington Raceway.

Post time is 5 p.m. for one of the richest programs of the year for Delaware harness racing. The finals are part of an all-stakes pick four (races 3 through 6).

The first final is for male pacers and features two uncoupled Clyde Francis-trainees, Keepmywiglegametyt (3-1, Jim Morand), who swept his eliminations and Dashiki (3-1, Montrell Teague). Both are owned by George Teague. Jo Ann Looney-King’s Chillaxin Away (9-5, Victor Kirby) is the likely post time favourite from the rail after a 1:54.3 win in his elimination win on September 24.

The second final is for male trotters and the scourge of the division has clearly been unbeaten Andrew Glassmeyer’s Embrace The Grind (7-5, Jon Roberts), who is 3-for-3 in his career. The Keystone Activator gelding won his eliminations with ease and will look to overcome post seven in keeping that unblemished record intact.

The third leg of the pick four is the filly pacing final. Only George Teague and K And R Racing LLC’s The Lady Sheriff (2-1, Teague) won both of her eliminations and drew post two in the competitive grouping.

The final leg of the pick four sequence is for filly trotters and includes three different elimination winners, Mark Groce’s Shes Spooky (9-5, Ross Wolfenden), Glassmeyer’s Dark Dutchess (311, Roberts) and Sarah and John Swart’s Royal Locket (7/1, Corey Callahan).

A $16,000 Open Trot is on the undercard, featuring Frank Chicks Majestic Mistress (5-2, Mike Cole), who has won three straight.
