American Ideal, America’s leading active pacing sire in 2018 progeny earnings, combined two- and three-year-old earnings, and $100,000 winners, is now full and closed for the 2019 breeding season.
The New York-based stallion, whose career is overseen by Brittany Stallion Management of Versailles, Ky., has stood at Blue Chip Farms throughout his career. Including the current breeding season, he will have bred a full or nearly-full book for all 13 years since he first went to stud.
In making today’s announcement, Brittany manager Art Zubrod thanked breeders for their continued support and noted that he is proud of the horse’s ability to produce champions each and every year.
“The remarkable thing about American Ideal is that he never has a ‘down’ year,” Zubrod said. “He continues to produce at the highest level of stakes racing, and of course dominates the action in the New York Sire Stakes.”
“I think with all the hype that surrounds new stallions, American Ideal’s nonstop, high-level credentials are sometimes overlooked,” he added.
“He not only was the number one money-winning sire in the U.S. last year, but also sired fourteen $100,000 winners and 75 individual stakes-winning or stakes-placed horses. His numbers are simply incredible.”
American Ideal is a shuttle stallion who makes his off-season home at Woodlands Park in New Zealand, where his book, incidentally, was also full and closed last year.
With both North America and Australia/New Zealand included, he has now sired 12 millionaires, led by the multiple world champion American Jewel ($1,840,565).
