A memorial reading will be held Saturday in Trois-Rivières for longtime trainer and owner Jean-Claude Côté, who passed away last week at the age of 71.

Côté, hospitalized after a stroke last summer, worked at Hydro-Quebec until his retirement in 1997. He started with Standardbreds in 1976 with a horse called Quick Charger and was active until last year, when he raced Kesons Reign.

Among the horses he campaigned with success over the decades were Harborview Darcy, Buster T Collins, Flight Vision, Reddy Almahurst and Dont Rustle My Luck, Pacer of the Year at Hippodrome 3R in 2013.

Visitation will be Saturday starting at 1 p.m. at the Residence Funeraire St-Louis in Trois-Rivières, with the reading to follow at 2:30 p.m.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Jean-Claude Côté.
