The live cards of harness racing slated for this weekend (Jan. 3 and 4) at Hawthorne Race Course have been cancelled due to an Illinois Racing Board mandate.
Jeff Davis, President of the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association, noted in a statement posted on Friday (Jan. 2) that cheques issued to horsepeople from Hawthorne Race Course have been recently returned unpaid by banks. This situation was previously raised by IHHA before Christmas.
Hawthorne is slated to race through to Feb. 15, 2026.
