Longtime Standardbred trainer and owner Ronald Charette of Gatineau, Que. passed away on Dec. 27, 2023 at the age of 83.
Ronald left his mark on the people he knew in his own way. Construction contractor and developer, horse enthusiast, founding member and president of the Buckingham Optimist Club. He knew how to surround himself with reliable people and most of them became his friends as he met him. But beyond everything, it was his family that made him proud. He was an exceptional model for his children and he only knew one love in his life, his wife Jeannine for more than 62 years.
Ronald was predeceased by his parents Albert Charette and Georgette Laberge as well as his brother Maurice (Cécile), his sister Antoinette (Marcel) and his daughter-in-law Judith Morin (Patrice). He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Jeannine Bélanger; his sister Nicole (Fernand); his children Sylvain (Carole), Nathalie (Paul) and Patrice; his grandchildren Christophe, David, Nicolas, Stéfaniel and Fabien; his great-grandchildren Laurie and Lévy; as well as several relatives and friends.
There will be condolences in the presence of the ashes on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Cadieux Funeral Home (322 avenue de Buckingham, Gatineau). A ceremony will take place on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. in St-Luc parish (680 rue Bergeron, Gatineau).
