Anthony J. ‘Tony’ Stellone Jr., 73, of Clifton Park, NY, passed away on January 18, 2020.
Born in Watervliet, son of the late Anthony J. ‘Tony’ Stellone Sr. and AnnaMae Kennedy Stellone, he was a graduate of La Salle Institute and Manhattan College where he earned his BA in business administration and accounting.
He was the beloved husband of more than 41 years to Jean M. Marin Stellone. He is remembered as a devoted father to Melissa (Jamison) Avallon and Chelle (Richard) Winne; a loving ‘Papa’ to his cherished grandchildren, Aurora Winne and Eli Winne; and a dear brother of Carol Sutherland. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and devoted friends, including Mike Scully, Ozzie Cole and the best man at his wedding, Jimmy Corona.
Stellone retired after more than 30 years as a racing official from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board in Saratoga Springs. He had also been involved in the operation of his family business, Stellone Electric in Watervliet.
He was a reserved man of profound passion and varied interests. This was no more evident than in his love of horse racing, enjoyed as both an owner and spectator; and his enchantment with music, with a particular fondness for Bruce Springsteen. He relished sports as an avid and accomplished golfer and bowler, Siena Saints basketball season ticket holder and exuberant New York Yankees fan.
In the community he was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Tony Stellone.
