The winter racing meet will come to a close this Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, but exciting new plans are already being worked on for the season re-launch in April with one of Prince Edward Island’s largest breeding operations

Meridian Farms has announced plans to unveil an Island Pacing Championship, an Open event for three-years and older, and a new series for trotting mares with the Erwin Andrew Memorial, four years and older, with legs staged at Summerside and Charlottetown tracks.
Nominations for the Island Pacing Series are due on September 24. The first elimination is scheduled for September 29, consolation on October 6 during Atlantic Breeders Crown and final, with $10,000 added, on the Championship Sunday, October 7.
Nominations for the Erwin Andrew Open Mares Trot series are July 23. For more information on conditions, click here.
Bill Andrew of Meridian Farms and Red Shores management will release more of the details at an upcoming press conference, but the announcement leaves no doubt about the commitment from the Andrew family to harness racing on Prince Edward Island.
