An update has been released in regard to the amalgamation of the BC Standardbred Association and BC Standardbred Breeders Society
.
The update appears below in its entirety.
The planned date to complete the Amalgamation process to bring together the BCSA and BCSBS formally to form Harness Racing BC (HRBC) as the official registered society is scheduled for February 1, 2010.
All assets, liabilities, rights and obligations of the two standardbred societies will be taken over with formal registration of Harness Racing BC Society on that date.
The boards of directors of the two former societies have been working together as one for several months now since the memberships approved amalgamation and the interim board of directors of HRBC will, under it's constitution and by-laws, consist of the six current executive officers of the BCSA and BCSBS; that is the presidents, vice presidents and secretary treasurers.
All other current board members will continue as volunteers in their existing portfolios until the first annual general meeting of Harness Racing BC, at which time the membership will elect its first full board consisting of four breeders, four owners and four trainer/drivers -- a full board of 12 members.
