Yonkers Cancels Monday Card

Due to the brutal cold and subsequent humane (and human) concerns about transporting and racing the two- and four-legged, Yonkers Raceway has cancelled its live program of harness racing for this evening (Monday, Jan. 21st).

It’s the second consecutive cancellation of 2019.

Evening simulcasting has also been cancelled, with the afternoon version already having been scrapped after Aqueduct cancelled its program.

Live racing is scheduled to resume Tuesday night (Jan. 22), with the usual first post of 6:50 p.m. The Pick 5 carryover in excess of $3,500 and $15,000 guaranteed pool now move to Tuesday evening.

Tuesday evening’s (Jan. 22nd) Pick 5 wager starts with a carryover of $3,501.25 and a $15,000 guaranteed pool. The guarantee is in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program.

The Pick 5 is a 50-cent base wager comprising races 7 through 11 Tuesday night. It has no consolation payoff, meaning if no one selects all five winners (as was the case Friday night, Saturday/Monday cards were cancelled), the entire pool (minus takeout) moves to the next racing program.
