OHHA/Hiawatha Contract Negotiations

Published: January 2, 2010 03:21 pm EST

Ontario Harness Horse Association (OHHA) President Darryl MacArthur released the following statement regarding contract negotiations between OHHA and Hiawatha Horse Park

.

“OHHA and the management of Hiawatha Horse Park have been in negotiations for a contract that was to commence on January 1, 2010. At this time we do not have an agreement in place and therefore are not in compliance with CPMA (Canadian Pari-mutuel Agency) regulations addressing permit requirements for simulcast wagering offered by Hiawatha Horse Park. The CPMA is also the federal regulator responsible for drug testing, race surveillance and photo finish services and has many regulations aside from simulcasting permits that ensure our product is provided in a fair and professional manner. While there is still work to do I am optimistic that a contract can be in place shortly.”
