The Harness Horse Youth Foundation has named the Hanover Shoe Farm Foundation as the recipient of the 2011 Service to Youth Award

. The Hanover Shoe Farm Foundation is an offshoot of the L.B. Sheppard Foundation and is now in its seventh decade of supporting deserving organizations in Hanover, Pennsylvania as well as in the sport of harness racing, according to its president, Russell Williams.

The Service To Youth Award is given to individuals, farms, or organizations who exemplify outstanding effort in facilitating youth participation in harness racing. Recipients show exceptional assistance (either financially or educationally, as a catalyst) to existing HHYF programs or in their own successful efforts.

"The Hanover Shoe Farms Foundation has been very important to HHYF over the years. Each November, a sizable cheque would arrive in the office and, usually, just at a time when things were tight," said HHYF Executive Director Ellen Taylor. "The continued generosity over the past decade of this organization, as well as of Mr. Williams and Mr. Simpson, has truly allowed HHYF to do projects that might otherwise not have happened."

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Simpson, on behalf of the Hanover Shoe Farm Foundation, will receive its accolade when the U.S. Harness Writers Association presents its Dan Patch Awards Dinner at the Double Tree Hilton at Orlando (FL) Sea World on February 12, 2012.
