James ‘Jim’ Krieter Passes

Standardbred breeder/horseman James E. Krieter, age 87, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020.

Krieter was born April 13, 1932 to Harvey and Elizabeth Krieter in Elmhurst, IL.

Jim was a 1954 graduate of Elmhurst College. He came to Muskegon in 1960 where he met and married the former JoAnn E. Voss. Jim and his father in law owned Port City Florist Supply. Jim and JoAnn owned Wind Shadow Farms where they bred and raced Standardbred horses. Their pride and joy was Red Rhone, who won many races throughout the U.S. and represented the U.S. in the European Grand Prix in Sweden.

Jim is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of 59 years, one daughter, Kimberly (Joe) Giannetti, and one son, Eric (Lori Will).

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Noah Project or the Muskegon Humane Society.
