William ‘Bill’ Hanna Passes

Horseman William ‘Bill’ H. Hanna, 71, of Alma, Illinois, passed away at his home on January 9.

Hanna was born July 8, 1943 in Salem, Ill., the son of Robert Denton and Velma (Long) Hanna.

He owned and trained Standardbreds, raised cattle and sheep, and was employed as a boiler room operator.

He loved to play cards, loved travelling, watching The Simpsons, going to Cardinal games and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hanna is survived by his wife, Nancy (Schierman); son, James R. ‘Buddy’ (Diane); daughter, Brenda (George) Booker; stepdaughter, Rhonda Doyle; brother, Ray (Donna); sister, Ann (Carl) Tockstein; grandchildren, Brittany, Tristan, Chandra, Sarah, Halie, Nicholas, Ashley, Zane and Jericho; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Brenner and Camden; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Casey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Velma.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy, Ill. Funeral service will be at the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy on Tuesday (January 13) at 11 a.m. Officiating is Carl Tockstein. Interment at the Evergreen Cemetery.
