Young Race Caller In The Spotlight

Published: July 3, 2008 02:20 pm EDT

The Daily Gleaner has shone its light on Chris Davies, Fredericton Raceway's man in the booth who at age 19 has already called over 1,000 races.

Davies, who started calling races at age 12, told The Daily Gleaner "I had a little squeaky voice and I still remember they went in 2:08.

"I've announced in Bangor. I've announced everywhere in the Maritimes, except Inverness. I'd say my most memorable call was Dunachton Gale, with one of my all-time favourites Phil Pinkney, in 1:54 and change to set the season's mark in Truro."
