Jason Cribbs' Wholeftthegateopen smashed the World Record for aged gelding pacers with a 1:48.4 mile Sunday afternoon at Colonial Downs.

Wholeftthegateopen ranged up to seize the lead after Tattlers Jet led the five-horse field through an opening quarter in :26 seconds.

Wholeftthegateopen flew down the long Colonial backstretch to reach the half in 53.1 with Tattlers Jet tracking closely in the pocket.

Wholeftthegateopen kept pouring it on around the lone Colonial turn, leading the single-file field through a 27.2 quarter around the bend to cross the three-quarter fraction in 1:20.3.

Golden Mattjesty tipped out to launch a bid from third and Tattlers Jet had something left between horses, but Wholeftthegateopen had yet another gear left for the 1300-foot stretch. He quickly drew clear in upper stretch and expanding his lead to the wire to prevail over Golden Mattjesty and Tattlers Jet.

Wholeftthegateopen scored his fifth win of the season for trainer Mitchell Small in the $10,000 affair. The five-year-old Mattuity gelding now has seven wins from 38 lifetime starts.

Wholeftthegateopen easily eclipsed the old track and World Record for aged gelding pacers on a greater than one mile track with the 1:48.4 clocking. Megabucks N, Oneinamillion N and Spastic shared the old mark of 1:49.3.

Small also trained Megabucks N.
