A pair of Ontario Sires Stakes Trillium divisions for three-year-old filly pacers highlighted Windsor Raceway's Wednesday evening card with Windsong Eva and Call Me Yours capturing their respective divisions.
In the first $35,524 division, Windsong Eva and driver Don Rankin, Jr. used a late-stretch kick to collar the pacesetter and post time favourite, The Fiesty Affair (Brad Forward), for the win in 1:55.1. Bootscootinfloozie (Doug McNair) rounded out the top three.
The Fiesty Affair set the tempo with opening fractions of :27 and :57.3 before Southwind Piaya (Jason Brewer) tipped out, providing Windsong Eva with cover through a 1:25.4 third quarter. After angling three-wide around the final turn, the daughter of Rambaran powered home in :29-seconds to score her sixth lifetime win and increase her purse earnings to $180,673 for trainer and co-owner Bill Cass and owner John Craig of North York, Ont.
Call Me Yours dominated the fastest division with a 1:53.4 winning effort in rein to Jason Brewer.
The daughter of Your Nemesis, who is owned and trained by Stephen Gilliard, got away fifth as Slomotion (Gene Piroski) sprinted off the gate to command. After a brisk :26.1 opening quarter, Call Me Yours stepped to front and pulled away from the pack posting the remaining panels of :55 and 1:23.2. The nine-time winner coasted to the wire four lengths ahead of St Lads Seraph (Trevor Henry). Yankee Pica (Don McElroy) finished third.
The lion's share of the $36,154 purse increased the brown filly's bankroll to $127,856.
