Wildflower Hanover Upsets In NJSS

Wildflower Hanover took the lead past the quarter and never looked back to post a mild 14-1 upset in the lone $50,500 NJSS division for two-year-old pacing fillies on Friday at Freehold Raceway.

Starting from Post 2, driver Pat Berry had the Western Ideal – Witchin Flight filly parked on the outside in third at the :28 first panel, following the move of Tutu Hanover (Dan Dube). Berry got the Dave Smith trainee to take control after the quarter and take the 10 fillies to the half in :56.1.

Wildflower Hanover paced to the three-quarters in 1:25.1 before holding off Showherthemoney (Dave Miller) by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.1. Tutu Hanover stayed for third.

Randy Bendis, Frank Castelli and Reed Broadway co-own the talented lass, who is 3-2-1 in eight starts. Wildflower Hanover, who was just an $8,000 yearling purchase, has already collected earnings of $73,580.

There was a pair of NJSS divisions for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.

Wind Surfer went coast-to-coast in the $24,050 first tilt for driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Mickey Burke. The Muscles Yankee – Windsurfing V C gelding stopped the clock in 1:56.3, winning by three and a quarter lengths. Owned by James Koran and Betty Sherman, he is 3-2-0 in 2008 with earnings of $38,111.

Shutter Boy converted from a two-hole trip in the $23,450 second split for trainer/driver George Dennis. The Yankee Glide – Miss Photogenic gelding tripped the teletimer in a career best 1:59, scoring by a length. The gelding, who won for the fourth time lifetime and has a bankroll of $106,101, is co-owned by the North State Street Stable And George and Tina Dennis In.
