The win streak is now three and counting for Voelz Hanover, who turned in a flawless performance at Woodbine Racetrack on Thursday evening in the last OSS Gold final of the season for three-year-old pacing fillies.
The speedy daughter of Astreos took home the lion's share of the $140,000 purse for owner Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, QC, who watched the filly bump her bankroll to $442,134 with the win.
Chancey Lady rolled to early command from Post 10 while Ms Goliath, last week's other elimination winner, tucked into the pocket and Voelz Hanover dropped into the three-hole for driver Mario Baillargeon.
Chancey Lady was in command through fractions of :26.2 and :55.1 before coming under final turn pressure from Voelz Hanover, who was sent off as the 6-5 favourite. Those two sprinted past the three-quarter pole in 1:23.2 before Voelz Hanover began to edge away.
The Ben Baillargeon pupil kicked home in :28.2 for the 1:52 decision over a hard-charging Shipps Bikini. That 41-1 shot used a :27.4 final frame to pass five rivals in the lane. Ms Goliath re-emerged from a ground-saving trip to take home the show dough. Chancey Lady faded to finish fourth.
The victory, which was the second Gold Series championship for the filly, was the fourth of the season for Voelz Hanover and the 11th in her career.
