Undefeated freshman trotting gelding Donttellmywife ran his streak to five Tuesday at Monticello Raceway and shaved more than two seconds off the track record in the process.
Jeff Gregory performed the driving duties behind the George Ducharme student in the $50,915 New York Sire Stakes event. Sitting third through the opening half mile, Gregory asked the Malabar Man bay in the third quarter.
After being right up near the tempo setter at the third stanza, the career earner of over $101,000 kicked in through the lane and went on to post a one-length victory in 2:00.1.
The former track record for the division was 2:03, recorded in 2006 by High Five.
"He's a good one and I believe he can go with the best [colts in the country]", Gregory told the connections afterwards.
