A trio of polished Ontario Sires Stakes performers battled it out during a compact, six-race session of Mohawk qualifiers this morning over the Campbellville, ON oval.
Race 5 featured Ontario-sired three-year-olds The Mohegan Pan, Keystone Horatio and Trade Editor.
After having left from Post 2 and taken a pocket ride through a :29.4 quarter and :59.1 opening half-mile, driver Steve Condren tipped No Pan Intended colt The Mohegan Pan first over. The duo were overland when they tripped the third timer in 1:27.3.
Pacing home with a :27.1 final quarter, Condren and The Mohegan Pan scored a one-length victory in 1:54.4. After having raced in third, pilot Randy Waples and Rustler Hanover son Keystone Horatio finished second.
With Jody Jamieson at his controls, Camluck colt Trade Editor raced fourth for the majority of the mile before coming home for a third-place finish, two and a quarter-lengths back of The Mohegan Pan.
Juvenile Angus Hall filly Stonebridge Diva captured the first qualifier of the morning in 1:59.4.
Other winners during the qualifying session were two-year-old Astreos colt Seer Of Patmos (1:55.3), three-year-old Kadabra filly Magical Wand (1:58), three-year-old The Panderosa gelding Cole Diddy (1:57) and five-year-old Angus Hall gelding Lance Hall (1:57.4).
