Something will have to give Thursday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway. Priceless Edition and Match Bayama are each carrying win streaks into the $13,400 Preferred pace; the former is unbeaten in three races and the latter undefeated in two.
Priceless Edition has dominated the Preferred class at Rideau and, more recently, at Kawartha Downs. The Mark Steacy trainee paced his last mile at Kawartha in a sparkling 1:53.1 with 27-second closing-quarter speed.
The four-year-old gelded son of Real Desire, out of the Precious Bunny mare Precious Delight, has earned over $111,000 this year largely on the strength of nine wins. Priceless Edition has the fastest speed in the field over a five-eighths mile track, having acquired a speed badge of 1:51.1 earlier this year at Kawartha.
Match Bayama, a gelded son of Goliath Bayama, easily won his last two starts in Rideau's elite class. The six-year-old bay has conquered the Preferred division in three of his last six starts.
Another starter that will be looking to make his presence felt is Faust Blue Chip, whose three-race win streak was thwarted by Match Bayama upon moving up to the Preferred class last time out.
Imjustalittleguy will be looking for a measure of revenge after having suffered a three-wide park-out into a :27.4 opening quarter his last time competing in the Preferred class.
The Preferred pace has been carded as Race 10, but a Preferred trot has also been programmed and will go to post for Race 7.
The field for the Preferred pace appears below.
