On Saturday evening, conditioned trotters went head-to-head in the $10,000 Preferred class at Hanover Raceway and the post time favourite, Stonebridge Diablo, put forth a solid winning effort to take home the lion's share of the purse.
Driver Ross Battin took the six-year-old gelding to the front and never looked back. The son of Angus Hall set the pace with fractions of :29.4, 1:02 and 1:31.2 before pulling away by over two lengths for the win in 2:01.3.
Royal Missy (Pat Keetch) was the runner-up and Marclif Victoria (Mark Estell) finished third.
Stonebridge Diablo picked up his 16th lifetime win and boosted his bankroll to over $500,000 for trainer and co-owner Ron Waples, Jr. and co-owners Randy Waples of Milton, Dr. Sheila Atmore of Fergus, Ont. and Alan Kirschenbaum of Burbank, California.
