There were no surprises tonight in the $47,000 Open Pace as the 2-5 fan favourite Secrets Nephew prevailed in wire-to-wire fashion at Mohawk Racetrack.

Trained and driven by Lyle MacArthur, the six-year-old son of Camluck cleared the lead with ease before the opening quarter pole in :27. Ramegade Bruiser (Jody Jamieson) made a first-over move past the :55.3 half mile marker, but Secrets Nephew shook off the challenge past the 1:23.3 third-quarter mark and kicked away by three and three quarter lengths for the win in 1:50.2.

Hyperion Hanover (Rick Zeron) finished second and Ramegade Bruiser faded to third.

MacArthur co-owns the winner of 34 races and $1,084,508 in purses with Frank Grandinetti of Amherst, New York. This year, the bay has notched 11 wins in the Open class and the first two legs of the Springtime Pacing Championship.
