Former groom and well-known racing enthusiast Santo 'Sam' Imbesi passed away peacefully at home Friday, September 5. Imbesi was 84.
Imbesi was well-known in the paddocks of Rideau Carleton, the Ottawa area in general and Hippodrome d'Aylmer.
Imbesi is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores, children Joe, Frank, Donna and Jim, and grandchildren Matt, Danny, Chelsea, Anthony, Rob, Patrick, Brad, Emily and Libby.
Imbesi is also survived by brother Frank and sisters Mamie Cook and Mary Barbeau.
A mass in memory of Imbesi will be taking place this morning in St. Anthony's Church 427 Booth St., Ottawa at 11:30 a.m.
