Rare Friday Night Card AT CDPEC

Published: July 3, 2008 02:40 pm EDT

The horses take the stage on a rare Friday night performance at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre, with first race post time set for 7 p.m.

It's the last card before the racing action shifts to Summerside for Lobster Carnival Week, and there are a number of highlights to look forward to on the Friday evening card.

Boswell Hanover, a two-year-old son of Astreos, will go for his second consecutive win, and his first victory for the new ownership group, Life is Good Stable.

Dr. Ian Moore handles the training duties and co owns with the stable that was formed from a group ownership seminar last year at Gingerwood. Boswell Hanover is scheduled to leave for Ontario over the weekend.

Island Flyer, owned by Jason Collings of Mount Stewart and Boyd White of Charlottetown, PEI, is up for the challenge while Oceanview Sue and Walter Cheverie are getting some solid support from analysts, but they'll have to overcome post 8.

Sounding, owned by Blair Kelly of Stratford, PEI, is listed as the morning line favorite in the $2,050 feature event in Race 11. Ron Matheson will guide the brown six-year-old from Post 4 against a top field of contenders.

The harness racing action shifts to Summerside Raceway for Lobster Carnival Week Saturday night. Post time is 7 p.m.

Monday in Summerside features two eliminations of the Governor's Plate presented by the City of Summerside and The Journal Pioneer. Post time is 7 p.m.
