A pair of royally bred race fillies attracted serious breeders at the recently completed Pre-Jug Mixed Sale at the Delaware Ohio Fairgrounds.
Andover Babe was purchased by Ben Schmucker of Indiana for $20,000. Schmucker plans to continue racing the daughter of Andover Hall this fall and breed her in the spring.
Dr. Larry Smith, also from Indiana, had the same idea when he purchased Vee Vee Hanover from the Mickey Burke consignment for $16,000. The Western Hanover daughter will race at Indiana Downs the next couple of months before heading to the court of Lease On Life.
The Mickey Burke consignment also yielded the three-year-old conditioned pacer South Padre Island for $17,000 and the fast conditioned claimer Bold Guy for $12,500. William Cantrell of Kentucky and Daniel Stone of Ohio were the respective buyers.
Don Brainard of Florida picked up a nice pair of three-year-olds pacers to take south. He got the nod for the Illinois Fair Stakes winner Remington Style for $14,500 and the 1:53.2 conditioned gelding No Dice for $10,000.
