Windsong Espoir 2,1:55.3 ($759,136) was withdrawn from the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold final on September 28 at Mohawk Racetrack. The three-year-old Kadabra colt has been shut down for the rest of the season, and there is a possibility that his career is over.
Via release this morning, the connections have stated that although finishing second in 1:56.2, Windsong Espoir wasn't himself in the September 21 OSS Gold elimination at Mohawk. Upon examination it appears that he has not fully recovered from the foot injury that occurred last spring.
Owners Bill Loyens, Peter Heffering, Jerry Vanboekel, and the Hope Stable have decided to retire Windsong Espoir for at least the remainder of the season.
