Pick Up scored her third straight victory when she won by a length and a half in Thursday's $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres Final for sophomore pacing fillies at Freehold Raceway.
The bay daughter of Dream Away, driven by Michael Cole and trained by Jason Skinner, used rail position to control the lead from start to finish, easily posting a lifetime best mile of 1:56.2 in the featured fifth race.
Pick Up ($5.40, $3.60, $2.40) improved her record to five wins and two thirds in 16 starts this year and 13 of 25 in-the-money finishes lifetime. Picking up the winner's share of the purse lifted Pick Up's career total to $72,610.
Mr Delis Filly ($4.40, $3.20), who is by Artiscape, was second and it was two and a quarter-lengths back to Vegemite ($3.00), a daughter of Cams Card Shark, in third.
Pick Up was bred by her owners, Darnell and Keith Murray of Frankford, DE.
In the second race, Happy Dreamer captured the first of two fourth round divisions of the New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres for two-year-old pacing fillies in a stakes record time of 1:55.4.
Happy Dreamer, a daughter of McArdle trained and driven by Julie Miller, won by nine and three-quarter lengths over Ideal Priority (Western Ideal). It was 11 and three-quarter lengths back to McBusiness (McArdle) in third.
It was Happy Dreamer's first win in three career starts for her owner-breeder Lomangino Standardbreds of Tinton Falls, NJ. The 1:55.4 clocking eclipse the previous Green Acres record of 1:56.3 set by Make Me Money (Dream Away) on September 9, 2004.
The second of the two $10,000 divisions, carded as the third race, went to Angie Stiller's Stonebridge Hugs (Artsplace) in 1:59. Jeff Gregory was in the bike for the Richard "Nifty" Norman trainee.
