Flamboro Downs and the Ontario Harness Horse Association are sponsoring two days of harness racing at the 168th consecutive edition of the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show in Simcoe, Ontario.

"We are all are very excited about this great partnership with Flamboro Downs and OHHA and what we expect it will do for the future of harness racing at the fair," stated Karen Matthews, Norfolk County Fair Manager.

"Flamboro Downs believes in grassroots racing. And, at fairs like Simcoe is where it all began," explained Flamboro's Executive Director of Racing Operations, Bruce Barbour, who resides just outside of Simcoe in nearby Waterford. "And, we think the purse for the final at Flamboro later in the month will certainly aid in attracting full fields and a better class of horse to the Norfolk Fair meet."

Full cards of harness racing at the Simcoe Fairgrounds will take place Saturday, October 11th and Thanksgiving Monday, October 13th. Post time at the grandstand each day is 1 p.m. Flamboro Downs' management and staff will be on hand both days working with Norfolk County Fair Race Secretary, Bob Kowalsky.

"We're really excited about the possibility that this partnership will trigger a harness racing resurgence at the Norfolk County Fair and, at the same time, introduce lots of new fans to this great sport," Barbour continued. "Flamboro Downs is absolutely thrilled to be part of it."

Top horses from the event will compete in an $8,000 Norfolk County Fair Final at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, October 23rd.
