After a brief layoff, this year's Nat Ray winner Misterizi returned to the track in Mohawk Racetrack's Monday morning qualifying session.
The five-year-old son of Mr Lavec made his last pari-mutual start in the Frank Ryan Memorial Trot at Rideau Carleton on August 10 where he finished second.
The winner of $348,515, who is trained by Anthony Montini, headed straight to the front of the field from Post 7. In rein to Rick Zeron, Misterizi posted panels of :28.3, :57.3 and 1:27.1 before sprinting home in a :27.4 last quarter, clocking the mile in 1:55 with a 12 and a half length margin of victory.
