Miller-Trained Twosome Primed For Cane

Trainer Ervin Miller has power in numbers working for him in next Monday's Cane Pace, thanks to the talented twosome of Major General and Lis Deo, who were second in their respective eliminations last Saturday afternoon at Freehold Raceway.

Lis Deo has made six starts this season, winning the first and finishing second in the next five.

Major General, oddly, also has a win followed by five consecutive seconds in his last six races. Overall, Major General has two victories in 11 starts this year and $190,418 in purses.

"[Badlands Nitro] was a little better, but I was happy with the way [Major General] raced," driver Andy Miller said. "He's not the best on the tighter turns, but he got around here OK. I just hope he draws well. I think he'll be real good if he draws in a good spot.

"He's been very consistent," Miller added. "He's all of a sudden found a lot of gate speed and that's really helped him. He's been able to get off the gate good and get into the race. It's really proven a good asset for him."
