A solid 13-race program has been drawn for this Saturday evening (August 23) at Mohawk Racetrack featuring eliminations of the Metro Pace, She's A Great Lady Stakes and Breeders Crown.
A trio of $40,000 Metro Pace elims for two-year-olds have been slotted as Races 2, 4 and 9, while a pair of $35,000 Shes A Great Lady elims are carded as Races 6 and 7.
A lone Breeders Crown elim for the Open Trot division has been programmed as Race 5 with a $47,893 purse. An attractive eight-horse Open pace will also go forward for Race 10.
First race post time is 7:30 p.m.
The first Metro elim features a seven-horse field highlighted by Nebupanezzar, a full brother to $398,000 earner The Mohegan Pan.
Nebupanezzar, a Bob McIntosh-trained No Pan Intended gelding, is carrying a four-race win streak courtesy of sweeps from a pair of Ontario Sires Stakes Gold events at Mohawk and Flamboro. Steve Condren will guide the bay from Post 6.
Two horses in particular stand out in the second Metro elim, an eight-horse contest. The Panderosa colt Vertigo Hanover has drawn outside, while speedy shipper Annieswesterncard will start form the middle of the gate.
Vertigo Hanover, trained by Duane Marfisi and to be driven by Jody Jamieson, captured a division of the Niatross and followed that up with a win in a Woodrow Wilson elim, clocked in a life's best 1:51.1. Vertigo Hanover will start from Post 8.
The Joe Seekman-trained Annieswesterncard is coming in from Illinois, where the Western Hanover gelding recently scorched the Indiana Downs one-mile strip in 1:50.3. The bay will again be paired with reinsman Ron Pierce and the duo will start from Post 4.
Speaking of speedy winners, Woodrow Wilson victor Major In Art has drawn the rail in the eight-horse third elim. The Justin Lebo-trained Art Major colt hasn't raced since his 1:50.4 Wilson triumph and will be going forward with pilot Brian Sears.
